Teenagers are very self-aware when it comes to fashion choices. Fashion and image go hand in hand and both have big impacts on a teenagers lifestyle, because it's a way of showing who they are or who they want to show the world they would like to be. Teens use fashion as a route to express themselves, gain social status, bond with their peers and express their affiliations.
Factors affecting teenagers sense of fashion include peer pressure, body image, brands, and of course, media and celebrities. Fashion shows and media such as TV, play a huge role in impacting a teenagers lifestyle and sense of style as most teenagers may look for clothes that represent their favourite TV character, to try and keep up with their sense of style. Many teenagers idolise their favourite celebrity and look up to them for fashion inspiration. Even without actively trying to persuade the consumer, celebrities can subconsciously alter their audiences ideologies.
